Tesla models we can review
- Model 3
- Model Y
- Model S
- Model X
- Cybertruck
Any other Tesla model is reviewed the same way. What matters is the warranty, how the vehicle was bought or leased, and the repair history, not the model name.
How Tesla warranty repairs are usually handled
Tesla sells and services its vehicles directly. Service is usually scheduled in the Tesla app and done at a Tesla service center or by a mobile technician who comes to you. Many changes arrive as over-the-air software updates. Because much of the history lives in the app, save it before it is hard to find.
Records to keep for your Tesla
- The full purchase or lease contract and the warranty booklet.
- Every repair order for the problem, including visits where nothing was found.
- Drop-off and pick-up dates for each visit.
- Service invoices and messages from the Tesla app, including mobile service visits.
- Software-update release notes and dates when a problem started or changed.
- Photos or screen recordings of warning messages, taken safely.
Does your Tesla qualify?
California lemon law applies to qualifying new vehicles, including many leased ones, when the manufacturer or its repair facilities cannot fix a warranty problem after a reasonable number of attempts. Our qualification guide and repair-attempts guide explain what we look at. For battery, charging, and software problems, see our EV warranty guide.
